Dr. Modupe Elebute-Odunsi is a distinguished Consultant Haematologist and the Founder and CEO of the Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre & Specialist Hospital — a landmark institution in Nigeria's private oncology and specialist healthcare space. Her career represents the rare convergence of world-class clinical expertise and courageous entrepreneurship in a sector where gaps in care have historically been life-threatening.
She qualified in medicine from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos in 1986 and completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Haematology-Oncology at leading London institutions including St Bartholomew's Hospital, St George's Hospital, and The Royal Marsden. She was awarded a prestigious Leukaemia Research Fellowship and earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of London for ground-breaking research.
In the UK, she held Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer posts at St George's Hospital, the UK National Blood Transfusion Service, and King's College Hospital, and continues to maintain a private practice at the Spire and Lister Hospitals. She was Postgraduate Director and Educational Supervisor for the University of London's Haematology Postgraduate Training Programme.
She is the Founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Women in Healthcare Network (WIHCN). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists.
